I don't know much about c-sections and am definatly not qualified to help make a decision like this, but I do have a good friend that ruptured during a vbac a couple of years ago. She was close to death and she said that she would never make the same decision again. If I had a c-section the 1st time, it would be hugely tempting to try it vaginally just to have that experience, but I don't know whether it would be worth risking my life and putting my child in danger, too.

It was tough for me to find an OB doctor. I first went to the Midwives of Ocala and got turned down there because they said I was high risk. Then I called Dr. Murphy's office and when I heard nothing from her office I then went to Dr. Marquette's office and filled out all the paperwork. Needless to say I never heard back from Marquette's office and then almost 10 days to the first time I callled Murphy's office one of her staff called and said Dr. Murphy would see me.

Now don't get me wrong here.... Dr. Murphy is an awesome doctor but her bedside manner is less than pleasant. I always and I mean always felt like the people that were in her clinic were nothing more than cattle being moved in and out. When you were there for your appt it was a get in and get out situation. It seemed to me that there was never anytime to ask questions and I can never recall her ending an appointment with the statement " Now do you have any questions for me?". I always had the feeling that she had something against single moms.. I'd see couples go back to the exam room and she would seem to be more cheerful with them.. I don't know maybe that was just my perception of it.

But all in all if I had to do over again I'd go back to her. But since DD is going to be an only child there is no chance that I'll have to go back there.

Kelly13,

I have had one regular delivery followed by two c-sections. My second c-section was much easier than the first. Many people told me it would be easier and it was. I recovered much quicker the second time. The actual c-section took a little bit longer because the doctor wanted to remove the scar tissue from the first c-section so that can take a little bit longer depending on how much scar tissue there is.

DO NOT GO TO MURPHY!!!! She is a nightmare waiting to happen unless you are the picture perfect patient. It is also very true that her bedside manner is horrible. I won't go into detail as it may make you never want to have children ever again.

I just googled "OB doctors in Ocala Florida" (Google ROCKS!!!) and came up with three pages of doctors. There were a couple of female doctors listed there but I don't know if they are still in business or not. I assume they are still in business. Here's the list I found..

But I'm a lot like you Elizabeth. I prefer a female over a male cause it seems so much easier for you as a woman to relate to another woman because she's probably been there and done that to.

With my three kids, the first and third were delivered by male doctors while my second was delivered by Midwives of Ocala. I absolutely loved Midwives. They are amazing. They only accept a couple insurances though as they are mostly Medicaid or out of pocket providers. The last I checked in 2005, they didn't accept any of the major insurances like UHC or BCBS. I used Dr. Nagda for my 06 delivery. It took me a little bit to get use to his style but now I won't go anywhere else. He has been amazing even through some complications that I had last fall which required a LEEP procedure. Dh and I are ttc #4 now and he is the OB I will be going to again.

I too would shy away from Sandra Murphy, she just doesn't relate well to people. However I jsut had my first baby and used Dr. Philip Johnson (actually his mid-wife Sharon) and they were both great. His office came highly reccomended from several people that I know that work at MRMC. I have nothing but nice thigns to say about that office.

When I first became pregnant I wasn't sure who to go to. I decided to see Dr. Hunt because he deliverd me 25 years ago and I figured if he had been around that long that he must be doing something right. At my first appointment I just didn't feel comfortable. Not really because of his bedside manner but partially because he is male and he is very old school. I decided to start sceduling my appointment with his mid-wife, Hillary Morgan. I loved her from the beginning! She would stay in the room with me as long as I wanted and answer all of my silly questions. She also delivered my daughter as I was scheduled to be induced. I will defintely go back to Hillary should I have another one.
