Did you?
I couldn't wait for that u/s to find out what we were having. I was sure it was a boy since I have 2 brothers, have always babysat boys or taught 16 boys (to 4 girls) in a preschool class. Imagine my surprise when the sonographer said it was a girl! (which I really wanted my first child to be.) But then I kind of wistfully look at friends who are/have been pregnant and never found out. That seems kinda fun -- but I don't think I'd be brave enough to do that until perhaps I have one of each? IDK -- what do you think? And even if I wanted to wait, it was very easy for my untrained eye to see we were having a girl. lol Elizabeth Mommy to Jodi (4/17/06) ocalamom@ocala.com |

I wanted to know. My Mother claims she already knew I was having a girl. But I found out twice in one week that I was having a girl. Had a level 2 ultrasound done at Shands ( I actually had two ultrasounds done at Shands one by a nurse and then one by a doctor) and the nurse said it looked like a girl (the doctor was too busy checking to make sure the baby didn't have Down's Syndrome so he forgot to tell me the sex of the baby) and then 2 days later at my OB appt. the doctor said it was a girl so I figured 2 people can't be wrong about it so I got a girl.
Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body. Proud Mom to Summer Grace (6/3/07) |

We were told we were having a girl at my ultrasound. Now, the baby was not cooperating very well during the ultra sound, so the DR was pretty certain, but said that there was always a possibility that he was wrong (even said that he was wrong about once a year).
Okay fast forward throughout the pregnancy, I have about 5 more ultrasounds because the baby wouldn't move on my schedule (I was a very nervous mom after having a miscarriage). All during each one of these ultrasounds, my husband and I would say "she" isn't moving. You'd think there'd be a clue there, huh? Well, when the baby was born (after 28 1/2 hours of intense labor and nerve-wracking delivery) out pops this little miracle. My husband, who had been up for 2 days straight at that point looks down at his precious angel and notices that something doesn't look right AT ALL. My mother-in-law who was in the delivery room, and is a nurse, looked down and told my husband that he needed to say hello to his "SON". Guess what was in the nursery up into that point? Yep, pink and lace galore!! What was most important was having a happy healthy baby, but I had secretly wanted a boy. Got my wish and a story to always share. |

ROFL JennB.
My baby bro (now almost 23!) was supposed to be a girl and out came a boy! Fortunately my parents had one of each already so they had clothing. Every time I had an u/s or BPP (they made me do them since I went long (or normal for my body I think) from 39-42 weeks). Every single time I asked the sonographer to triple check and it was VERY clear -- and she's only missed one or two, she said, in all her time doing it. But my brother was supposed to be a girl so I knew mistakes happened. lol Still, I realized when she was born that I hadn't been able to check to make sure it was a girl (I ended up w/ a C-section) and unwrapped her in post-op to confirm.
