When I taught Kindergarten I read every single one of these books aloud to my students. It was one of the only chapter books that they would all SIT and LISTEN to. We loved them. No, her grammer isn't that great, and yes, every once in a while she says a word that you may have to explain to your child that they aren't allowed to say (nothing major...things like "dumb"). But it is well worth it! They are sooooo halarious and even 4 yr. olds can "get" them.

I can't wait to start reading them to my son. I think that it's a series that will help encourage his progress in reading! Check one out...you'll laugh 'til it hurts! Big Grin

My son is 5 and LOVES Junie B. I think he likes her because she isn't perfect and doesn't pretend to be either. I found Junie books on CD and tape at the library. We read a chapter out of one of the books every night but he also likes to listen to the ones on tape/CD while going to sleep. She just cracks me up. It is the only time we get to say "stupid or stinky or smelly". My kdg and 1st graders loved them as read alouds when I taught too.

Does anybody remember anything about how to get the free books from Dolly Parton? I think they were only offered to certain zip codes in Ocala. Any helpful information is appreciated. Thanks!
