Do you think this is good or bad?

You are a legal adult at the age of eighteen. You should be able to do what is legal for all other adults over the age of twenty one. If you can go to battle in a war and vote you should be able to have an alcoholic beverage.

You make good points.

When my mom was in college, I'm pretty sure the drinking age used to be younger. Like 19? Will have to ask her.

I agree if you are old enough to fight and die for this country then you should be old enough to legally have an alcholic drink. The fact of the matter is they are going to drink anyhow, so why not make it legal.

I think the "thrill" of drinking for many underage students is doing something illegal and getting away with it. Therefore, if the "thrill" is taken away, maybe it won't be as desirable to binge. However, it is important to remember that many kids turn 18 while they are still in high school. I think it would be a bad idea to make something like that legal for some high school students.

The thrill is a good point, too. So is the 18 in high school still.

On the thrill point: I remember when I was in Spain the drinking age is so young there that all the kids we saw out were drinking -- but responsibly b/c it wasn't a big deal. There were even beer vending machines that we saw. (And it was probably the cleanest city I had ever been in -- in Madrid. We watched them clean the streets every single night.)

Not saying we need this here, though; just comparing. Smiler
