When did your kids stop taking naps? Do you think that there is a point in which a child is too old to take a nap? How long do/did your kid(s) nap and how old are they?
Cooper stopped napping when he was about 3, I think. He would still take 3 hr. naps, but then he would be awake until 10:00 or later. So we cut out naps and now he has to "rest" every day. He watches a movie in my room w/ the door closed while my almost 2yr. old takes her nap. That way, I still get a good break. Elizabeth is almost 2 and still takes a good 3 hour nap every day. She CAN make it w/o a nap, but she still goes down very easily and I think she does better with one. Erin OcalaMom.com Moderator Mom to Cooper and Elizabeth |

Naps? I don't know that word you speak of. lol
She stopped at 1. Seriously. It was like 14 or 15 mos and I was fighting for ehr to go down and she'd sleep long enough for me to get out of the room. W/ me in school and getting up so early now, she *may* take a nap for an hour or so on campus in the stroller. But my reward for the naps stopping so quickly is that she goes to sleep typically at 6 p.m. (now 6 p.m.ish w/ school.) Last night -- no nap but asleep by 6:10. That said, when I worked at a preschool in college, the majority of my 4 y/os napped through the first part of the school year. By the second half of the year, it typically would be down to about 8-10 of the 20 napping. Elizabeth Mommy to Jodi (4/17/06) |

Sigh! I miss naps! Oh, you meant the kids....not the grown-ups! Sorry!
Chris stopped taking them when he started kindergarten. Granted he was in daycare/preschool, so they HAD to have a nap time, but if they didn't nap, they still had to stay on their mat and have quiet time. And now, I'm going to take a nap!! |
