Interesting article and for the most part, I can see this happening in many of the teens, especially the girls, that we know. They dread PE in school, even though some of our friends are involved in dance.
We try to balance as the article suggests with game and computer time. But to think that this trend is affecting our teens' health through adulthood... good food for thought and not the first time we've been warned. |

As our child got closer to the teen years we got her involved in things she was interested in. Gymnastics was her first interest, then we got into bowling and roller skating. When she was 14 we signed up at a local gym and worked out together. We had bicycles, baseball bats, volly ball and badmitten. When she turned 16 she signed up as a coach for gymnastics. We tried to follow her interest and when we could we would join her. They stay active if Mom and Dad stay active. We both had jobs but she saw that we tried and even if she was embarrassed by what Mom and Dad were doing she got the message
