That's very funny. I'm considering changing my name to Ima Reck. That was my favorite. But seriously, who does this?

Before I became a SAHM, I was a teacher, as are most of my family. My Aunt once told me a story about a child she had in her class named "Lemonjelo". The mom must've been eating lemon jello at the hospital when it was time to come up w/ a name!

True story, really: One of my favorite math teachers in high school was named Richard Large. Can you imagine how mean his parents must have been? They must have never thought about last name first with some professions, leave alone the nickname.

Being a former and present teacher's aide and a former newsroom typist, I've seen my share of weird and crazy names. The saddest part is having kindergarteners trying to learn to spell and write those complicated ones....
I am not trying to offend anyone, but it's easier throughout one's life, especially as adults, to have a simple, universally understood and spelled, name -- unless you are a celebrity who could care less and people will go out of their way to learn the correct spelling and pronunciation. That said, I went to college with the following: *Chime Clock *Noel Trees *Joseph and Mary Christmas (twins) -- when the professor asked where Baby Jesus was, during the first class day's roll call, they got up and walked out. Other students followed! Prof dismissed class for the day and, 3 days later, the class was cancelled. How about THAT?! --k |

Back in the 80's my mom worked in an inner city hospital (mternity nurse). SHe was talking with one of her patients (a 14yr old, not in school anymore)and asked what she had named the baby. The girl was so proud that she had such unique name and that she had seen it on a poster at her OB's office; The name was Syphillis. (Pronounced Suh-phyllis) Yep, i am telling the truth truth .Talk about humiliation>.....
