Hello, My name is Trina. I am not a mother yet. I have the fuzzy kind of children. I am a medical assistant, i have been working beside a medical doctor who prefers a more natural approach to treating his patients. I read the report on the msnbc site, and for the portion stated there, which was the fruits, veggies, and an alternative source of protien. My doctor supports this and this is burnt into my brain from telling every patient the same thing. It is very true, also by changing the diet in this way lowers your cholesterol levels, and makes for easier digestion. There are different opinions about the cholesterol, but the evidence is in the studies. In our practice we have healthy patients. Its really not so great for business(just joking), but for every one of them the main priority is diet and exercise and educating each one of them how they can take control of their health. Without medications.

Welcome, Trina!
We started off w/ fur babies, too. I agree w/ the Dr. you work w/. My mom is an ARNP and follows a similar teaching approach. She has a pt who has diabetes now and has a genetic predisposition to it and knew it was coming. In a short amount of time, he has not only changed his diet and exercise completely, he has lowered his numbers enough so that he most likely won't need insulin and won't be classified as diabetic anymore! I agree medications are often overprescribed or misprescribed. Elizabeth Mommy to Jodi (4/17/06) |
