Life has a funny way of teaching you a lesson. So I guess that I have learned something today. So what was the lesson I learned today? That you're never too old to become bionic!
I finally went to see a orthopaedic specialist today and discovered that I am a potential candidate for hip replacement. Still need to see a joint specialist (as my second opinion). What's so wrong with having a hip replaced?? I'm 36 years old! I feel way too young to have this kind of surgery. So I have to ask this.. Have you ever known of anyone my age or younger that has had hip replaced? And if so how well did it go? ~Deanna~ Mom to Summer Grace Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. OMG! I'm guessing that was a bit shocking to be told!
I personally don't know of anybody that young. A former co-worker's DH had one in his 50s and did very, very well w/ it. Other than that.... I would have to think, though, that you would do exceedingly well as young as you are. Much lower risk of complications. Keep us posted! Elizabeth Mommy to Jodi (4/17/06) |

Actually it wasn't that big of a shock to me. I've had this hip pain for the better part of 2 or 3 years now and I figured it was time to have it looked at when I almost fell the other day with DD in my arms. So when the doc mentioned hip replacement I just said to him "I knew you we're gonna say that." I think that secretly I knew it was going to come down to surgery but still you never expect to hear those kind of plans being laid at your doorstep at 36 years old.
I'm just hoping that if this surgery actually does happen that I'll have age on my side and that I'll recover quickly. I'll keep everyone updated as the info comes in. ~Deanna~ Mom to Summer Grace Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous.
