Tuscany is probably the newest nicest place to stay in Ocala, so you are good there. I have a friend who is a nurse who lives there and she loves it. Plus you are conveniently located. Places to eat....I LOVE Tony's Sushi, Bonefish, there is a place downtown called Mangos that is nice, there is also a place downtown called Felix's which is very nice. A good place to get your hair cut is also downtown called En-Ve, I am in fact going there today. Anything else?

I think that you'll like Ocala. People who have been here for a while appriciate whats here. Some from out of town think that its slow (the nickname for Ocala is "SLOWCALA"). I don't feel that way. Proud to be here and can always find something to do. There is a really nice movie theatre in near the mall. They are building more shopping out on SR 200 past where the mall is. O' and you will have to take a trip down to The Villages, they have some pretty good shopping there. Not to mention you'll only be about 45 minutes from Gainesville and that shopping. Personally, I stay around here - I have a 6 & 10 year old boys who don't like shopping let a lone traveling to shop.

Good places to eat are all over. They have Red Lobster on SR 200. Plenty of steakhouses to choose from. Lots of hole in the wall places. If you ever get a chance go down C25 in Belleview towards Ocklawaha. There are 2 places to eat, one is Alfies and the other is Gator Joes (Gator Joes has very good gator tail- definatly have to try that).

Ocala is not a bad place to live - its like everywhere else. You can find lots to complain about or you can think that its a really great place. I for one like it here.

Hope you have a safe move & we look forward to having you join our community.

ULTA is a nice salon, and they have everything a lady needs for cosmetics and beauty . I wouldn't know about nails on your side of town as I don't get mine done. ULTA is not too far from Tuscany at all.

Hello all, I'm new to the area as well. Just moved here 3 weeks ago with my hubby and our 5 month old. LnF0405, I'm also from the Long Island, NY area but more like the Queens/Long Island border. You will like it here. The people are very friendly and the shopping is great. Not sure if you're from the North or South shore but it feels like your shopping in Garden City or Westbury. I'm sad to see that there isn't an Ikea in the area but I believe the closest one is in Orlando. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm excited to have found this forum with all you wonderful ladies. I look forward to chatting with you all.

I will soon be having Ikea withdrawals so I'll have to schedule a road trip soon. Smiler

It looks like there's a Kohl's coming to our area so that should be nice.

Indeed! I know what you mean.
I saw signage for it on 200 just west of I-75. I love their kitchen accessories and their home decor stuff as well. All we need now is a Pottery Barn or a Crate & Barrel. Cool

This should be a pretty smooth transition for you. There is a very similar feeling here to being on the island: shops, restaurants and of course driving everywhere. It's great. Sometimes when you tell folks that you've moved here from NY they may not always realize or remember that we have suburban neighborhoods as well. You say NY and they immediately think - NYC.

Oh yes, there's a Target. Whew! What would we do without it?
