My mom is in Malabar and I am not sure if she could even get home from work so I'm about to call her! Not sounding lovely down there.... And apparently a fire station burned, too, according to WESH? I watched this on the news yesterday and eventually had to turn it off b/c it was making me way to sad. I can't imagine losing everything to fire. I hope your mom is o.k. Keep us updated.

My mom's house is OK so far.
She lost power and internet/phone yesterday for several hours. What really concerned me was reports the Malabar fire station burned down -- extremely, extremely close to my mom's house. Turned out it was a Palm Bay one. Whew. My mom took Gatorade to the Malabar fire station today and said there were hundreds of people there. She sent me some pictures -- like a view from her house facing the fires -- it's awful!!! And more than 65 (IIRC) homes are uninhabitable in Palm Bay now and they suspect there's an arsonist in Palm Bay setting some fires. What's sad is there are reports of looters trying to come in but it sounds like local LEO is really trying to stay on top of that. Some people..... Elizabeth Mommy to Jodi (4/17/06) |
