I missed this last night in the midst of all my clinical paperwork I had to do, lol. 5 hrs of sleep is already pushing it, right?!

I heard from a girl on the bus today the speech was really good, but then I heard people chattering on the radio about her sounding fake.
I have no clue how it went. Anybody see it? What did you think?

Yes, I watched the speech. And I yes it was fantastic! She is a self described pit bull with lipstick! For the first time since this election process started, I have hope for our country. Sarah Palin is a phenomenal speaker and she's not afraid of telling you how she sees things and that you'd be better off leaving her and her family alone! She stood up to Obama and all the others saying she lacks experience. She has more executive experience that Obama has and she's not running for President.

I was fired up during her speech and I can't wait to vote in November!!!

I watched her the other night too and thought it was great. When McCain first announced her as his running mate I thought he made a huge mistake but now I see why he picked her. She is fantastic and a great fit for a campaign that wants to change Washington! Bringing her on board has helped me make up my mind on who to vote for!!

I did watch the Palin Speech at the Republican Convention. After hearing so much about her as McCain's pick I wanted to see for myself what she was offering as our vice president.

She is very sarcastic and cutting just like Karl Rove. It could have been a female version of him.

I am actually insulted that the Republican Party picked her thinking women would vote for her because she is a woman. She is definitely not Hillary Clinton.

She is just like the Bush Administration. Denial of finding alternative sources of fuel. She is in the back pocket of big oil money. Even her inauguration was funded by BP. She wants to drill in Alaska which would not even touch our supposed "Energy Independance" she keeps talking about. She even wanted to take the polar bears off the endangered species list for which I assume is to drill for oil in their territory.

She believes in "abstinence is best" for sex education which we all know doesn't work. As an example take her own pregnant seventeen year old daughter.

She even wanted to ban certain books at the library of the town where she was Mayor. Which is in violation of our Constitutional Rights of free speech.

While I am glad that she brought up helping special needs children. I didn't see a defined health care plan for our country's families. Their are millions without health insurance with no way of paying for the exorbitant amount of insurance premiums. All I heard from her was cutting government funding which would include health care for children.

She really never brought up womens issues at all. What about helping single mothers with children gain a better education? What about changing the failed "No Child Left Behind" education system? What about making it better for women to receive equal pay?

She showed me she is nothing different from the old Bush regime. I have had enough of the last eight years and don't want another four years of the same.

If you are a big oil, insurance, credit card, or pharmaceutical company I am sure Sarah Palin is your woman. Oh yes, that's right those are the companies that contribute to the Republican Party. These businesses would love more of the same that Sarah Palin can offer. They are making loads of money off the backs of the
American people.

Everyone I know, including myself, are not doing as well economically over the last eight years of the Bush Administration. Why would you vote for the same type of regime? I guess if you are rich you would. The average middle class American has no benefit in voting for the Republican Party again for the next four years.

Go ahead and listen to Palin's snide remarks and be amused. I on the other hand am not fooled and won't be voting for the "Pitbull in
Lipstick."

I heard about this group because I was researching Palin as a "bully." Bullying on the playground is killing kids- boys under 6' even. Anyway, I read someone's statement on this site that Palin misuses her power. I wanted to refer you to an article I just read about how she wanted to censor books at the local library and would have fired the librarian for saying no, but the librarian was popular and well-respected in the community...
Scary stuff to me.

Well said skyviking. palin is a joke and seems to want all women to become barefoot and pregnant. I've never seen such a hypocrite. It is so scary to think that some beauty queen might be in charge of our country. Who's next, Paris Hilton?

Very well said Skyviking!!!! Couldn't have said it better myself. I was going to post about Palin but found that I seem to lack tact when discussing the Republicans. LOL!

A note about her inauguration being funded by BP - her husband works for them and apparently does well enough that he is able to take a month or more off to go fishing...if i remember right i think in her speech she said he was a fisherman but i don't think she said he works for BP as his main job. I agree that she is very sarcastic and nasty and I really pray women don't fall for it......

After writing my initial post I looked into even more information about Governor Palin. It reinforces my earlier views of her. I won't be voting for her and McCain.. I am really surprised that they say she is popular among lower income Moms? The media is calling them "Walmart Moms." Why would the lower income mother vote for her? I really don't see anything in common with her privileged life and the average person? It is a mystery to me.

You must have taken my comment the wrong way. I thought it was very derogatory to group women as "Walmart Moms" because I can't stand Walmart. I think they treat their employees horribly and have actively union busted for years.

I just don't know why anyone of a lower income would vote for a republican. They are just consistently making the corporate world richer and hiding behind a platform of supposed "moral values." so other income levels will vote for them.

Please keep in mind I am registered Independant. I have voted across party lines for the one I felt would best serve our country and its interests.

I sort of understand why it looks like Republicans want to make the rich, richer, but do you realize that without the Republicans efforts the poor, get poorer?

Let me explain... In order for the economy to prosper you need people to spend money. Rich people have money. When the rich spend their money, it trickles downward. The money is being spent, therefore new jobs are created. New jobs are created, thus allowing more people to spend.

If you listen to Obama's version, he'll tell you that he plans on taxing businesses. If he does that, it is going to effect everyone that draws a paycheck from that business or anyone who uses them for goods and/or services - that includes rich people AND poor people.

If a business determines that they need to charge x dollars for their product in order to stay in business (pay salaries, benefits, workman's comp, unemployment, rent, overheads, etc.) and then the government comes along and says well, we need to add x dollars in the form of a new tax. The business will then say ok, I need to charge x to recoup that money (because without it they will lose). You don't expect them to eat it do you? They have family's etc. They will pass that extra cost along to the consumer. We will all pay for that increase one way or another.

If raising their prices to cover the new costs incurred by the tax hike doesn't go over well, they will just ship their jobs overseas or their company will go out of business and we lose yet again.

I don't understand where the Republican "moral values" thing comes in.

If moral values is of concern, maybe we should talk about Obama and his senatorial efforts to get a grant for the hospital in which his wife worked. Funny how she got a SIGNIFICANT increase in her salary (AFTER the hospital received the grant) for doing EXACTLY the same job. I'm not talking about chump change either. I'm talking about a substantial sum of money - in the upwards of $100,000.

I am not a wealthy person. I pay my bills like everyone else, but when something makes sense, it makes sense. Regardless of what political party your affiliated with, don't let charisma and charm and fancy words win your vote.

Look for people who can make a difference. Look for people who have a record of crossing party lines to get things done (McCain). Look for people who know what it is to really serve their country (McCain). What do you think was running through McCain's head as he served his country and lost the use of his arms due to being tortured every day for years? He was being tortured because they wanted the names of the pilots of his squadron. Beaten, broken and bruised, he gave them the names of the Green Bay Packers defensive line.

He was offered an early release because of his father's position (Admiral) in the military. He didn't take it. He honored his country, the men serving with him and a code of ethics - first in, first out. That is the kind of man I want looking out for my best interest.

Look for people who were willing to give up lucrative positions within the oil industry in Alaska because they were doing inappropriate things (Palin). Look for someone who was willing to go against the grain and fight the "Good Ole Boys" to make things right (Palin). Did you know that Sarah Palim fired the "governatorial chef" because it was a wasted expense? Did you know that she put the private jet for sale on ebay and it sold!! These are the types of things that should garner your vote.

Do I think McCain is perfect? No, I don't. BUT I definitely feel that we need his EXPERIENCE to get this war over with and our soldiers home. I think we need his proven record of crossing party lines to get things done. He doesn't care about making friends. He cares about wasteless spending. And I think we need someone like Palin who is just as strong-willed. I think we need a woman that has the know how and desire to make this world a better place for her children and all of the rest of us in it.

You can say a lot of nice things about Obama. He's a great motivational speaker. He's charismatic. He's made great strides in his personal life. He was raised by a young single mother, went to college, succeeded, etc. BUT, he has not been put to the test. There is no where near the evidence FOR him as their is for McCain and Palin. And when push comes to shove, fancy words and a pretty face just don't cut it in that line of work.
