Do you have a favorite source? Where? Why?
Though I wish there were a farmer's market here, we do have a decent amount of produce stands in the area it seems. Elizabeth Mommy to Jodi (4/17/06) |

Last year I tried visiting various produce stands thinking it might save money and be healthier. I tried one here on Baseline across from Trinity Baptist. Then they were closed for months. Now they've demolished the whole thing. For awhile I frequented the one across from Wild Waters next to the little post office. However, their produce went bad within a few days every time! I went online to look for a Farmers Market in Ocala. It said we had one and sent me to a link. Upon further investigation it said that the FM was no longer up and running but they were going to try to revive it. As of now, I think the only place to find lots of produce is at places like Market of Marion. I'd love to see one downtown on the square. When I went to school in Tallahassee, they had a market every Saturday with food, produce, and art/craft vendors. IT was really nice in the cooler months. I think something like that would do great if they'd do it on the weekends. The original FM in Ocala was on Thursdays I think. Well, most people are working!

There is a FM every Thursday at On Top of the World next to the Ranch Spa and Fitness Center. They have wonderful produce and much more. Willoughby's is on Hwy 40 west before you get to I-75, I don't know what days they are open. The Market of Marion is open on Saturday and Sunday as well as the I-75 Market on NW 44 Ave.
Don't know of any by Baseline. |

The Market at Marion has lots of good inexpensive produce near Belleview on 441. It is a fun Flea Market with many booths. The orange dealers are very good there.
There is also a produce stand by the Sweet Bay in Belleview that has great prices. |
