This commercial: Link
has been all the talk online today in a lot of mom sites. Motrin has since pulled it and issued an apology -- Link Jodi has been worn since she was born. I rarely wear her now b/c she wants to walk everywhere but if you wear the right carrier correctly, it doesn't hurt... Elizabeth Mommy to Jodi (4/17/06) |

I can see how it would be upsetting to some but lets not take it too far. It's just a commercial!

Uhm, I am lost.
Where was the offensive part? I have a slingling, had a baby bjorn, the infantino baby carrier and with all of them at one point or another, they hurt my shoulders and back. Now I did sling Makily much longer than most kids but she can't walk or crawl so her weight may have had something to do with the sling hurting my back but even with foster baby sometimes my back gets sore...... all that being said I am missing the offensive part of the commercial. I will admit though it's REALLY hard to offend me.....I've heard it all. Trish Lead Moderator ocalamomhost@ocala.com ![]() |

I don't see what's so offensive...people need to lighten up! I've used my baby bjorn with both of my kids, and was thrilled to have it, since it did give me two hands to use, and yes, my back did hurt when they got bigger. But I'm not offended by the commerical at all.

Well, I'm still filtering through the ugliness called my inbox but from what I can catch on first glimpse, a lot of babywearing advocates were upset b/c it puts babywearing in a negative light they think.
We use an Ergo (Jodi hated slings though I tried 3 brands) and that is so designed for back support ergonomically that even now w/ her on my back at 2.5 it's not sore afterwards. Elizabeth Mommy to Jodi (4/17/06) |

Goodness.
I used a sling with both of my kids, and never had backpain until they were getting too big for the sling. I think it is ridiculous that people are getting their knickers in a twist over that commercial. Jeepers, I guess you have to be SUPER careful these days about EVERYTHING you say and do so you are sure not to tick a single person on this planet off. LOL Another one for the PC police!! I think that it's pretty silly that people are getting offended by this commercial. I did wear my son for a while and I got sore! Some people do/did and some people don't, the commercial is advertising to the people that do. People need to stop being so sensitive. Next thing we are going to see is probably some kind of lawsuit. yet another thing people go overboard with.

i find it kind of funny, as it was meant to be. not that i am saying ANYTHING bad about people on this forum, BUT the whining and complaining about this commercial will do more harm to your "bod" than wearing your baby...

I don't think Motrin is being offensive to attachment parenting at all. The way it came across to me is they were saying how slings and carriers can be painful which is true. Maybe the sling and carrier companies should really look into a better way of making their products more comfortable. I don't see anything offensive in the commercial. I carried all of my kids in those things and it speaks volumes of truth.

I agree with proudmammax3, I never got into those things. I had one, used it a couple of times & sold it at a garage sale. I felt like a kangaroo!!
