You know...I would imagine, that just having someone ELSE come in to do the hard work would help. They would be totally focused on what they were doing, not cooking and cleaning and chasing, etc. Also, from my teaching days...I've learned that kids often listen better to others better than their own parents, in a teaching environment. With us we know our kids and our kids know us and what buttons to push to get us to give up and walk away.
I wish I had seen it on TV and that she wasn't in Chicago! Could we get her here in about a year maybe? Hopefully Ellie will be potty trained by the time she's 2.5, though. Erin OcalaMom.com Moderator Mom to Cooper and Elizabeth |

lol -- I know. I wish she were closer.
I could sit back and just watch. (And I think even as adults, kids still act up w/ their parents. lol) Elizabeth Mommy to Jodi (4/17/06) |

Toddlers can be potty trained in a day. My sister is living proof of that. Although it was back in the late 70's that my Mom did this...lol. My Mom didn't load my little sister up on sugary drinks and salty foods. She just called everyone she knew the day before and told them not to call or even step foot on the property (lol),she took the phone off the hook, locked all the doors and got busy training.
My Mom had one of those little dolls (actually I think it was my doll) that peed everytime you gave it a drink of something so Mom showed that to sister and when sister would emulate the doll my Mom rewarded with a sticker, small piece of chocolate or some other kind of little treat. So do I believe it can be done? Yeah but I know people lead very hectic lives and probably wouldn't think of doing it themselves nowdays so it's easier for them to let someone else do the dirty work. Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body. Proud Mom to Summer Grace (6/3/07) |
