My daughter is going to turn one at the end of the month and still has not slept all night! The doctors tell us to let her cry but that doesn't help our slepping. My husband & I have tried almost everything. My first one slept through the night at 3 months and has never looked back so I am at a total loss of what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Does she sleep in her own room or in your room? Would that help to have her in your room, like in one of those co-sleepers or a mattress on the floor?
How much total sleep is she getting w/ naps? What time does she wake up usually? Is it a set time that it might be some external factor -- like neighbor's sprinklers going off and hitting her window, or a truck driving by at a particular hour? I agree CIO doesn't help you (or her) get sleep. Hope you find something so you can get some sleep!!! This, too, shall pass. Elizabeth Mommy to Jodi (4/17/06) |

My son didn't sleep through the night until he turned 2. He was already in a toddler bed, but it took moving him into a big bed to do the trick. Are you nursing? Does it seem like she wakes up at the same time every night? My daughter normally gets a sippy of juice/water before she goes to bed and it seems like she wakes up at the same time most nights (I think b/c she's urinating that sippy full of juice).
I think some kids are just wired to not sleep. My mom said I didn't really sleep through the night until I started Kindergarten! My poor Mom! I agree w/ Elizabeth about total sleep time during the day, though. If she's still napping twice a day...it may be time to cut out one of those naps.
