I had one called The Girlfriend's Guide. It was hilarious not scary like those What to Expect books. I also liked The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. I think it was a Le Leche League book. I don't have any of those with this 3rd pregnancy because I loaned them out to friends and never got them back.

I agree w/ the Girlfriends Guide and WTE scaring you!! (And womanly art is a LLL book.)
I wish I had read a Thinking Woman's Guide by Henci Goer before DD.
I read Birthing from Within but it was a bit too fluffy for my tastes, though I know others who liked it a lot.

Don't you just hate lending out books and never getting them back?! I am such a book nerd that I got so tired of never getting my precious books back that I just stopped loaning them out. I had to replace too many books...
