I taught Jodi the correct words b/c I feel she should know them for a variety of reasons.
However, she now goes in public and talks about the names of the body parts.... I tell her those are things just to talk about at home. Didn't think about this coming up. Duh, in hindsight. Confused

How do you handle this w/ your kids?

We just say "boy parts" or "girl parts" right now. I figure we'll do the formal stuff as they get older.

My 4 year old daughter is fascinated by her parts, and she has named her female part a carrot (the highly sensitive part we girls have), and she sees me changing her 1 1/2 year old brother's diaper and says that he has a mountain. So, I go with that for now. I have explained that boys and girls have different parts, and that it is supposed to be that way, but I have not elaborated too much. She's too little to concern herself with specifics yet, but because she is so curious, I will probably have to fill her in sooner than I would like. Her brother is still too small to name anything, so it is not an issue for him.

I am reminded of the movie 'Definetely, Maybe' in which the young daughter keeps saying the boy's private body part louder and louder until her dad had to stop and listen to what she really wanted to say. I blushed right along with him, remembering the time my son did this in the grocery store!

Coop called his a peanut from the beginning...it has transformed into the "real" name now tho.

We call my daughter's a "va-JJ". Stole it from Oprah.
