I am as concerned US citizen who, moved to Marion County in Ocala,FL November 2007.I see that traffic really has disreguard for everybody else such as us pedestrians.I see on 17th ave and 14th street by Ritterhoff Park, traffic flys by when any school bus has came to a complete stop to pick up children.I thought Florida law states ,you must stop when children are boarding on a school bus and it has stopped completely with the stop stick. Also, bicycles are considered vehicles by Florida law and have every right to ride along the side of the road with traffic.I can't count how many times I hear people shout, get on the sidewalk !! Most try to get close to you and even try running into you.I can't belive how many drivers honk just to get to a red light. Then, I hear about a disabled guy in a wheelchair, get hit by a truck.Perhaps gas prices are not high enough to compensate the stress we,pedestrians must endure.I say raise the gas even higher ..Or build a bike trail along these busy roads..We pay taxes just like everybody else..

You are so right! Just when I thought traffic was bad everywhere else I moved here and traffic was a nightmare. There are just too many rude people on the road. My pet peeve are those people that are just too wrapped up in themselves, having the radio too dang loud or talking on thier cell phones to hear an emergency vehicle approaching! I can't stand that people just don't pull over as a common courtesy! What if that was one of thier loved ones dying or needing help?
Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body. Proud Mom to Summer Grace (6/3/07) |
