Oh goodness...does my 2 yr. old ever repeat EVERYTHING I say. Luckily nothing "inappropriate" has come out of her mouth yet. I try and be pretty careful about it...especially after learning the hard way w/ my son. I will admit that the word "crap" has escaped his mouth once or twice. My bad!

I once said "white trash" in front of my 2 yr old. Well, he decided to say it in front of my mother in law and the rest of the family. They all laughed and thought it was funny. However, when he used it again at Walmart, it wasn't so funny. Some people there got offended.
What I don't get is they listen when you don't want them to but I have to ask both my boys to clean up toys, get ready for bath, pick out books for bedtime story, etc at least 3-4 times every day! Talk about selective hearing. |

Oh, like when I was running late and trying to get J in the car seat and she bumped her head and I had a choice word slip and she repeated..... I just ignored it and got her in the seat and then let my eyes pop hoping she wouldn't repeat it again. She didn't. Phew.
I have become much more watchful of what I saw around here, but I will totally admit that the stress of school added to my already busy plate has helped enhance a potty mouth. Elizabeth Mommy to Jodi (4/17/06) |

This has happened many time with the young kids in our family. They think that if you say it, it is okay to say it. So just be mindful of what they hear you say. And if it slips, I would explain to them that what you said is wrong, and apologize to them.
