With grocery prices at the highest ever, I find myself gravitating towards more of the Generic items. There are just some items that I have to go for the Real Thing, though.
Mayonaise, diapers, orange juice to name a few.
Are you spending less money on the generic items lately? What can you just not skimp on?
I use some generic (doesn't matter w/ diapers or wipes since we use cloth ) but many things I still like name brand. For OJ: I grew up near groves. Tropicana is not real juice..... But I also never buy OJ in the store -- I have my mom bring it from back home.
Though there isn't always a difference, even w/ some meds there is, IMO. For instance, the generic Allegra does nothing for my mom so she pays extra for actual Allegra....
I am better than I used to be, but I know I still buy a lot of name brand. (Clothes -- always. )

More often than not I am buying store brand(generic) these days. There are certain items that my husband refuses store-brand on though, like coca-cola and cereal. He can even taste the difference in Malto-Meal cereals! But just about everything else, I've been buying store-brand these days (even meds, like aspirin and tums). I've been pretty happy with the storebrand name from Publix and Walmart. My son lives on instant mac-n-cheese on the weekends and the only one he likes is Walmart brand!
When Aldi's opens here (I can't wait!) I'm going to give them a try and see if we can't save more money.
