My baby brother just left today from Jax-Mayport for his second Navy deployment. He is going back over to the Persian Gulf.

Any body else have family members deployed? I remember there is at least one husband (to the expecting mom!) deployed.

My son although not deployed is in the Navy. He just finished boot camp and leaves for Pensalcola to start his aviation training. I wish your brother the best of luck and will keep him in my prayers.

My brother did his advanced training in Pensacola, too! They sent him there from Great Lakes and he had no car in Pensacola so I remember driving to get him at like 6, 7 mos pregnant to pick him up for Christmas. Longest drive of my life, lol.
My brother is a helicopter mechanic. Hydraulics. Or some title that he tells me I always get wrong.
Is your son going to fly?
Thanks, and best of luck to your son! Maybe he'll get stationed in Mayport, too, and be close. Smiler

my brother called me yesterday morning to tell me that he is deploying in june of 09 to afghanistan. even worse than this news is the fact that his wife and my mom do not know and wont know until he comes home on leave later this year. great, so now i have bad news that i cannot tell anyone else!! i love being so "close" to him that he knows he can tell me, but if my mom finds out that i knew all along, he will be fighting wwIII here in ocala!! Yes, my son in law is deployed to Afganistan. My daughter is expecting their third child a boy. Well, she unexpectly received on base housing and I just got back from helping her move back to Kentucky. Well, good news we unexpectly received a phone call at the beginnning of the week. He was on his way home for R and R. He arrived in Nashville yesterday morning. We told his daughters 2 and 3 that we had a surprise for them. They hadn't seen their daddy in 6 mos. (His first deployment) When the oldest one realized that he was walking in front of her she covered her mouth in suprise and ran like heck to him. I cried. Anyhow he will be returning to Afganistan in 2 weeks. He will not be here for the birth of his son. He looked thicker and older. But, he is here for a short time anyways. He hasn't even finished this deployment and he has already received his orders for his next deployment to Iraq. God Bless to all of you who have a family member or friend over there. Iraq is terrible and Afganistan is just as bad.
