Has anyone been to Dollywood before. We're are heading to Gatlinburg and my mom and dad's new house in TN next week and was wondering if Dollywood is worth spending the $ to go to?

Yes most definitely! We were in TN 3 years ago and were planning on going to D'wood. We found out that the tickets are good for the next day after you buy them at a certain time the first day. Maybe 3PM---not really sure. Check out her web site to find out the details. After we had been to D'wood, my son's band went to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge on a trip the next year. Because we had already been there, he knew the good, fun rides to tell the other kids about. They all had a lot of fun with their "inside hints" from my son. While in the area make sure to go to Ober Gatlinburg and once you are at the top of the mountain, go outside and ride the many rides there. That can take up all day long if you let it. Also another interesting place to go while in that general area is Cade's Cove. Its a nature drive that can take as much as 2 hours to complete (all depending on whether you do the entire route and how many people are there along with you). The great thing about that whole area is that there are MANY things to do for ALL ages and groups. Have fun and let me know when you leave because I might try to stash away in the trunk and go with you. I love the mountains!

I think Ober Gat is where we went as kids on a family trip there. They had skiing (kinda). It was lots of fun. We did not do Dollywood so know nothing about it.

Thanks craftee! I went ahead and bought the tickets to give to my hubby for his bday. We'll be in TN for it.

You can go at 3pm the day before you plan on going. I remember seeing that on the site when I was researching.

We haven't ever been to Ober Gatlinburg, but we go to Cade's Cove every time we're there. We actually saw a family of bears last summer! We had a great picnic there, too. Smiler

I'll leave my trunk unlocked. Wink

(off to research Ober Gatlinburg!)

One more thought,

We go there every year and stay in a valley on the way to Cade's Cove, called Wears Valley. We love it there. It is quiet, yet close to the action. It is on 321. There are several realty rental places there that rent cabins. You can get them in the valley or on the side of a mountain (our pick) with beautiful views of the mountains. Check it out if you can. Enjoy for us!

Dollywood is definitely worth the money. My family and I went a year ago June and had one of the best times ever. The people are pleasant, the park is beautiful, the rides are some of the best I have been on. I like Dollywood better than many of the theme parks here in Orlando. If you children are older, the water park is also a must some of the most thrilling rides that I have been on. Once again very clean.
