What are your kid's favorite books?
I remember Babysitter's Club, Sweet Valley High and Nancy Drew. (I was/am a total book lover! I was an early reader and reading bibliographies by 1st grade. I remember my mom asking my teacher if it was normal for me to read a 600-pg book. lol Now I'm lucky to read a magazine page!)
So many new books are out since I took children's lit in college (that was a fun class to take!)

What are the "in" books your child loves? Why?

Christopher is in to Magic Tree House books these days. He's also a HUGE fan of Captain Underpants (I know, I know, I tried to have him stay away from those, but friends at school introduced him to them and he was hooked. I had to look at it at that point as, "Well, he IS reading!?!?! Roll Eyes They're not really *bad* books, but not the sort I'd take up reading either). He was (and sometime still is) a fan of Junie B Jones. He tries to do the Harry Potter books, but they're still a bit overwhelming for him. Going to the library is like walking into Santa's toyshop for him.

One of the nicest compliments his kindergarten teacher gave was that in all her years of teaching, she'd never had a child that was so into literature as Christopher is. That was a proud mommy moment!

Oh yes, I forgot about Junie B. Jones. My little cousin loved those books when she was about 7 or 8.
I loved the library, too. I read the entire children's section (minus any books I deemed too boyish, lol) by the time I was 8 or 9 I think.

That must have been a proud mommy moment! WTG Christopher!!!

Have you tried the Spiderwick Chronicles? My friend's son was reading them and I got one for Ryker. He was hooked. He read the series before the movie came out last week. It was fun to hear his comments on the differences between the books and the movie.

Ryker has mentioned the Captain Underpants books too. I guess he saw them at the school library, so they can't be bad, right?

His grandma takes him to the public library. Last time they found a Spider Storch book. I had never heard about them, but it was a good boy book.
