Dog pee on mattress, clean pile of laundry, and a $$ decorative pillow.
Laundry is being washed now, but the pee soaked through the quilt, sheets, allergy cover and way into the mattress. We're soaking it up now but how do I get the smell out?? (And funny part -- I walked in -- it happened at bedtime/bathtime for DD -- and DH is just covering his nose w/ his shirt. I was like, uh, whatcha doing? Then I smelled it, thought dog pee, and asked where it was. Then he goes, OH! That's what it is. Like he was just going to ignore it, lol.....) TIA! Elizabeth Mommy to Jodi (4/17/06) |

For those things that can not be washed, soak as much as you can and spray with vinegar. For some reason vinegar absorbs odors without just masking them. My daughter has allergies and sneezes when I use room deodorizers (spray or plug in type). I learned this trick from someone who used work in a nursing home. They used vinegar to spray the mattress when someone had an accident. |

Peroxide - spray it on & dab it - it should also lift the stain as well...

Thanks ladies! Am going to go try those. I have clinicals the next couple of days so don't have time to run out and buy any special cleaner, but vinegar and peroxide I have.
I just hate the thought of pouring something on a mattress. DOG! Elizabeth Mommy to Jodi (4/17/06) |

One thing you can also try is carpet cleaner that eliminates dog/cat odor out of carpets. Put it in a spray bottle and spray the wet spot, let it soak for a few seconds then wipe it dry with a absorbent towel. I use carpet clearner on tough stains and smelly stains on jeans and other hard to wash fabrics. It absorbs the smell, eliminates stains and does not hurt the fabric.
